We already simmed 45 days and real NBA season is 34 days away from tip-off. That gives you a difference of 79 days.
At this pace we might end up with a 1st season unrealistic rookie class and that is not good. This season is our only chance to get a semi-realistic class because the real NBA take big breaks between seasons and it is impossible to stay "real" unless you sim with real life schedule and you take big breaks between simulated seasons which pretty much means closing the league, lol.
For that reason, i really really really do not want to hurry the sim at all. I would rather work on other things like the ratings page that make the league look better.
Unless, TB (Owner) is opposed to the general idea this is the path i am taking (a slow but consistent sim). However, i am not willing to use my time to sim more than i think is needed.

I have no problem with a sim slow down. Only beceuse it's a simulation league and simulation means as close to real as can be. I've never been in a league with fake rookies, but I know I wouldn't be a fan of them. Yes we all look forward to the sims, but if we continue at this pace, Portland is right at this pace we will have fake rookies. But whatever is decided, I'll roll with, I'm not bailing. Im for whatever everyone decides as well. But when people are trading 2012 draft picks, makes me wonder will we really be here for 2 years. Im in, only time will tell though.

You get the general idea of whose coming out ahead of time. Say we finish season 1 in late November we'll have a rough picture of whose legit and whose a bitch.

Can I assist with naming the "fake rookies" once we get to that juncture? Like Miles O'Smiley at PG or Timmy "Chang" Jackson at the PF. Also a big fan of Reno Hightower for a C aand Milo Governs at the SF.

When i used to play NBA courtside, i created a pf - Paul Martin (6-10, athletic like Kenyon Martin, lol) and a ce- Sean Myklas (7-0 center with good fundaments).

There is mock drafts up to 2014 lol. If we follow that template we'll be fine. Plus on 2k10 for the 360 you could DL real draft classes. If you don't sim for a week expect the activity to go back to where it was a couple weeks ago.

I agree with both sides here. Chicago is right. If we do slow down a bunch the league activity will become lackluster and sort of fizzle out. However I do agree that we need to keep real draftclasses. If we stay on this pace, even tho we have those projected draft classes up to 2014, how are we supposed to allow them to become better if we base our ratings off of the game and real life. Very difficult situation we are in

best idea...continue simming one day at a time, and make educated guesses. honestly, thats the best we can do without activity dropping

Weeks before i joined the league, there was nothing going on. When i came i started posting all sort of things so it not just a sim but rankings, stats, list with all sort of ratings and more.

I agree with what you said as well Minny. And there is no plans on stopping simming. It looks like Portland is saying just a slower rate, I dunno, 4 or 5 sims a week just to slow us down a little bit.
Also, Mock Drafts don't mean much until about May/June when underclassmen declare/don't declare, and overseas guys change their minds, etc.
I was in a league (Rim Rockers) where we got ahead, and had a draft class based on what was thought to come out at that time. Turns out, Tyler Hansbrough didn't come out for two years after that, so he was in the league, playing in the NBA (in our sim) but playing in NCAA IRL. His Rating wasn't touched for at least 3 years, and he was on the 3rd or 4th year of his rookie contract by the time he actually entered the NBA IRL. It was so weird and unrealistic, I very much did not like that he was in the league, supposedly in the NBA (after all, this is supposed to simulate real-life), but was actually still in college!
He's not the only guy who people thought would come out, and then didn't, not by a long shot. And there are plenty of guys people don't think will come out, that do.
It just kind of ruins it for me anyway, not realistic at all if we have a college kid playing in the NBA in our sim while he's still in College IRL.

Knicks, there u go again. I know this is all your idea b/c you were the one from the beginning who wanted us to sim once per day so that we wouldn't finish until next March.
I wasn't going to post but after Fic and Minny both said the same things that I was thinking, I figured why not, I'll post what I'm thinking.
Although activity is up based on Portland's great effort, if u don't sim for 3 or 4 days at a time, what kind of a message does that send to everyone? Hey, show up every 4th day b/c besides for that, nothing is going on.
You don't want to overthink this. I don't like it but 1 day per sim seems to be working alright in keeping people active enough, so continue with this process because if u stop simming for 3 days, I guarantee people will start dropping eventually.
Change the damn names of the fake players to make them align with the real possible rookies. That solves your problem right there. Base it off of freshman who are projected to enter early or underclassmen who are projected to enter early and then align the ratings with those fake rookies and just change their names so they are real-life players.
Even if it's not completely accurate, what's the fucking difference? Look at everyone's teams. It's all different from the real NBA teams based on all the trading that was done.

This a message entirely coming from me. 1) I don't think we should hurry 2) I would like to kill myself if i had to spend all my time simming. I joined the league to do more than just sim. And to be honest, i would lose some interest if we go in full unrealistic mode. I think it says a lot that i am the GM with more picks and i am the one asking to go slow.
