The Atlanta Hawks made what they hope is a significant move towards winning an RSSA Title. Yesterday, Atlanta sent young prospects Al Thornton, Wilson Chandler, Mario West and its' 2011 1st and 2nd round picks to Orlando in a trade for veteran power forward David West. "While Wilson Chandler was playing well for at small forward, we needed a bit more size and experience in the low post. By us acquiring David, we feel he'll bring that knowledge to an already great team. Teaming him with LaMarcus, when he's recovered from his injury and Josh should prove to be a force in the paint for any team." said GM Ray461. "We are excited to see how this combo plays out for us. We've slipped a little as a team in the past few weeks, losing a couple of games we shouldn't have. But we feel this new move will help fill-in any holes in our lineup and give us the much needed push to bring a title home to Atlanta."
In Orlando, we caught up with David West after finishing practice. When asked about the trade David said, "No one likes to be traded, but I understand management has to do what they think is best. "Am I upset about the trade?" no, not at all, Atlanta is a talented team and I just want to bring my experience and help contribute any way I can. I'm excited honestly to play on a team that has the potential to win a title."
In other news from the Hawks camp, starting center LaMarcus Aldridge has been working out with the team after a freak geocaching accident left him with a strained quad. "I never thought I'd be injured trying to retrieve a cache from the back side of a basketball goal. I spotted what I was looking for, took a step back to make a short jump to get it and as I jumped I felt a sharp pain shoot through my thigh. I had the team doc check me out and he said I could play on it but advised me to take it easy for a few weeks and not overdue it. It was kind of silly how it happened really, but little things can happen to anyone, even RSSA Players."
