The Bulls knew what they were getting when they sent away All-Star Carlos Boozer, a do it everything guy in Loul Deng and defensive specialist Ronnie Brewer. The Bulls acquired heavily traveled Stephen Jackson and Erick Dampier plus All-Star and early MVP candidate Gerald Wallace. Did I just say MVP candidate? Gerald Wallace has gone off since being acquired by the Bulls in the offseason with averages 33 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 block thru 4 games. Its a little early to dub Wallace as a legit candidate but we have no reason not to think these numbers will continue. Usually the LeBrons, Kobes, Pauls and Dirks of the league are favorites to win the leagues best player trophy but its a little known ''star'' in Wallace whose proving his worth already.
A lot of folks don't believe Wallace can keep it up, but time will only tell[/i]
With Wallace finally having a great passing PG after seeing Felton, Augustin and even Knight who is a great passer but hes one dimensional, we've seen Wallace finally take off to where the Bobcats hope he'd be when they picked him up in the expansion draft after being drafted by the Kings in the 1st round 27th overall. But one thing is missing, hes not on the Bobcats now. "Derrick told me from day one its going to be and him running this and I worked on my game knowing I'm finally on a championship team" Wallace recently said to the Tribune. With a supporting cast around Rose and Wallace which includes Joakim Noah, the aforementjoned Stephen Jackson, Kyle Korver and Taj Gibson the Bulls have no reason to not think this team has the build of a championship team.
I'd be scared shitless if I saw this guy in a dark alley way[/i]
With Wallace they expected to get the rebounding numbers and all-around solid defensive play but they didn't expect an offensive outburst quite like this. Many experts had him pinned as a 3rd offensive option behind Rose and Jackson not the number one option. Rose and Jackson have held their own but Wallace has elevated his game to a whole new level and it has to have the rest of the league worried that this high flier is now taking his offensive game seriously. Will the Bulls keep meshing? Or will Wallace run into an offensive struggle which will put him from MVP contender to MVP pretender? Time will tell.
