Cleveland Plain Dealer
The person formerly know in Cleveland as "King James" recently opted to "take his ball to South Beach" and left, not only the Cleveland Cavaliers, but the whole Ohio area high and dry. Cavs Owner Dan Gilbert had harsh words for James words for saying "I personally guarantee that the Cleveland Cavaliers will win an NBA Championship before the self-titled former 'king' wins one." Gilbert's words were called racist by civil right leaders such as Rev. Jesse Jackson, which helped to fuel the already rifted relationship between Lebron James and Cleveland.
Other than a few minor signings and trades, not much has changed in roughly a month for the Cavs until now. Owner Gilbert has decided to give a new GM a chance. His name is Charles Boen, and he has an impressive track record in leagues. Mr. Boen had been named the Houston Rockets GM, but Gilbert offered him a huge contract to come to Cleveland. Gilbert said recently "I am devoted to winning and if I am going to not look like an idiot and lose to Prince James then I need a miracle...does Charles Boen have it in him?"
Boen has a long track record of turning teams around quickly, one of the more notable was ironically was with the Miami Heat in the RimRocker league. Mr. Boen took the Heat from a lottery team from the year before to the Finals where they eventually lost, and Lebron James was the captain of this team. When asked why he decided to come to Cleveland, Mr. Boen had this to say "I have GMed the Rockets many times, becoming the highest paid GM ever and having a challenge in front of me, you have to do what you have to do. Boen went on to say of Lebron "He's a good kid, but misguided. I was brought here to clean up this mess and I hope at the end of the day I'll be asking Lebron how my ass tastes!"
