Commish (Portland) wanted me to start an NFL thread. There has been some surprises this year, 9ers at 0-5, Cowboys and Vikings at 1-3, Chiefs are doing well, any discussion of the NFL can go here.

I know as much of NFL as Knicks knows about soccer (hahaha) but i know Americans love football.
Where i live, Soccer is called football and we have Rugby instead of American football.

My team is the Bears, who would be considered as a surprise by most at 4-1 right now. Vikes are 1-3, so the Bears have to deal with the Packers for now, who have been decimated by injuries lately.
Bears have shown signs of being great but other times, their offensive line is complete shit and the running game has been inconsistent.

Brilliant job by the Cowboys great all time defense on sunday CLE. The Vikings need to get a BRAND NEW O-LINE, it's obvious they have huge protection problems.

NE Patriots baby. weird start of the season but loaded with potential Potential, but can it be fulfilled. The Pats defense is horrible, I know Ty Warren is injured but they have no one to help out Vince Wilfork in the front 3, do they even have OLB (they have Mayo and Guyton and both are pretty good ILB), and of course their secondary James Sanders isn't James Sanders, and the only sure thing on the Pats secondary is Brandon McGowan and Brandon Merriweather. Their offense just got worse, it's bad enough that they don't have a running game but with Moss gone it'll be tough to get 17-21 points (they have moved back the clock to the good ole days of Reche Caldwell and Jabbar Gafney).

yea it definitely can be fulfilled. OLB they have tully banta-cain, rob ninkovich, they arent amazing but they do their jobs. and i disagree with you about the secondary. brandon mcgowan isn't even playing this season he is on the IR. patrick chung is starting SS and he has had a very very good start of the season. if leigh bodden wasn't hurt the starting corners would be bodden and McCourty which would be a fairly solid staring CB pairing. yeah their are a lot of holes in the defense right now but they are slowly being filled. Really the holes on defense are just 1 more strong Cornerback, OLB which they have a potential starter in 2nd round pick jermain cunningham. and one new DE. next season with Ty Warren and Wilfork all they need is one more strong line man and right now their is ron brace, Myron Pryor, and Brandon Deaderick fighting for that spot. all of which are 23. not that their age means they will automatically become stars but for the time being a combination of mike wright and those guys will that hole.
Now to the offense. yes much weakened after the moss trade and replacing him with deion branch. not exactly ideal, although he is fantastic with brady, but that was 4 years and three knee surgeries ago. But the patriots are still very strong offensively. have plenty of young talent at the WR position in tate, edelmen, and price, who could all be good players (none will be stars though) to compliment welker. Running back we still are working the committee and Ben JGE is looking to be a good running back with danny woodhead, Fred Taylor and sammy morris at FB that is a very solid RB committee. and Tom Brady. Offense still has a lot of fire power.
And with all this being said patriots still have 7 picks in first 4 rounds of this years draft. I think the patriots are still in very good shape

Banta-Cain and Ninkovich/Cunningham will hold down OLB for the Pats this season, and I really like their win against Baltimore last weekend. Excited for that Jets game cause tonight vs. the chargers should be a joke

Indy vs. New England -- should be interesting for Am. football fans. Is it me or does the NFL schedule this every year now?
