Year 1: 500,000 Year 2: 500,000 (Team Option)
The New Orleans Hornets would like to extend an offer to Mr. Alston at the minimum. Due to our financial situation, we are not able to offer more money. We believe that having you on the team will put us over the top. You will be playing significant minutes behind Chris Paul and will also be playing quite a bit in a two PG set with Paul and you as guards. We need a strong backup veteran point guard and there is literally nobody else that fits the bill right now. We know that you will want to win right away and no other team has as well-rounded a team as our organization. With a starting lineup of Emeka, Bosh, Marion, McGrady, and Paul, with Miller, Wallace, Posey, and Gomes off the bench, our team is studded and ready to win a championship. We believe that with you manning our second team, we will have a second team that could easily compete with many of the starting 5's in the league.

The NJ Nets would like to offer Mr Alston a 2 year deal worth twice the starting salary offered by NO and a guaranteed 2nd year. We have a couple of point guards on the roster now but multiple deals in the works which would put us in a position to need a true, backup point that was our 1st or 2nd guy off the bench.
Year 1 $1,000,000 Year 2 $500,000
2 year - $1,500,000
Thanks for your consideration.

Right now, Rafer probably prefers the Hornets...but it is close. He would be the first PG off the bench for NOH.
However, a little stability is nice. NOH, can you offer a 2nd year at (preferably) $1,000,000? If you can do that, it greatly increases your chances.
New Jersey, all we can say now is, with Udrih and Chalmers ahead of him, and Damion Jones listed at PG and only one point behind him, NOH has a more desirable situation. If you can change your situation to entice Rafer in any way, we suggest it gets done sooner rather than later.

Rafer, I'm gonna tell you the same thing as I told Tinsley, we are going to need a solid backup PG very soon
Heres the reality: We have depth at that position, but first. Stuckey is prob on his way out soon, and that takes out a SG. If you sign with us, we can most likely move JJ around, and I'd rather have you come off the bench over him anyways, and will reflect that in my depth chart, plus ill prob trade him anyways. George Hill, if you sign with us, will be our backup SG, meaning you will backup Holiday and still see plenty of playing time. Heres our offer:
1st year: $2,000,000 2nd year: $2,500,000 (TO)
Be our permanent backup for a few years and I promise you to see lots of playing time

NOH, I say again, can you offer a SECOND year at $1,000,000? You can not offer 1,000,000 in the first year b/c you are over the cap.

Nope. You are over the cap now, which is all that really matters. If you still had your MLE you could offer more, but you used it all on TMac.
NJ we just can't make a decision on a "might do this trade" type of thing. Right now you've got a 75 and a 72 PG on your roster, which means little to no PT for Mr. Alston.
We think NOH is still the best place for Rafer though. DET has more money but Rafer really doesn't want anything to do with that team right now, just being honest.
NOH, update your charts ASAP.
